Google推出专利搜索，目前只针对美国地区用户，国内可以访问不过处于不稳定状态，可能是撞墙或者故意限制中国地区用户的原因。搜索页面并没有统一到.cn中域名中，只是简单的英文介绍，没有实际意义。这个搜索是在Google获得搜索结果页面专利权以后推出，或者是为了庆祝以及告诉世人专利的重要性。

专利搜索在页面布局和搜索技术上都很像图书搜索，使用上应该没有什么特殊的方式。站点采用全文搜索方式提供用户详细的资料，可以获得专利的文字甚至图片介绍。在搜索主页提示"Search over 7 million patents."，说明在美国地区至少能搜索7百万的专利说明。
